Recursive Cooking
I was thinking about making Eggs Benedict tonight, and I looked up the recipe on how to make a good hollandaise sauce. I remembered this from before, but I never made the connection. Eggs Benedict is a recursive recipe. It consists of english muffins, canadian bacon and poached eggs, which are then covered in the hollandaise sauce. One of the prime ingredients of the hollandiase sauce is egg yolks.
This isn’t the only case of recursion in cuisine. One could argue that any meats involving gravy could qualify as well.
However the most recursive thing in cuisine ever was when I tried to feed a cheeseburger to a cow. Wrong on two levels instead of one.
