Apple + Intel Perfect Together?
Last month, rumors were abound that Apple was looking into scrapping their relationship with IBM and instead using Intel processors. Everyone said that this was just an unfounded rumor, and if anything, they were looking to write software for the XScale processor, which is used in things like appliances. This would be a market segment that Apple could expand into and do well with.
So out of nowhere, they announce that they are indeed switching to Intel processors. This is cool on a bunch of levels. The first is that now, we can finally run OS X on our PCs. I’ve been dying to give it a try, but I just hadn’t wanted to pony up the cash to buy a new Mac. However, I am sorely tempted to purchase one of the Mac Minis. Decently priced at only $500. Once they port OS X over, I’d definitely give it a whirl. Office is actually better on the Mac, and I’d still be able to play World of Warcraft. : P So what else would I need? : )
