Day 15 - Hooray For Lazy, Apathetic Employees!
Today started out simply enough with a run for more concrete. I got some 80 pound bags, as they were completely out of the 50 pound bags. I bring it up to the cashier and she goes, “Are these the three dollar bags they have outside?” They were $3.69 each, so I go, “Uh. sure.” And so that’s how I got all of my concrete at three dollars per 80 pound bag.
Once I got home, we finished filling all of the holes with concrete, and placing the J-Bolts in. After that we drilled holes in the ledger in preparation for putting the large galvanized bolts in. The large bolts went in with the help of a pneumatic ratchet, and finally to end the day, we removed the old galvanized aluminum flashing and put in the copper.

All of the concrete poured, and J-Bolts in.

The ledger, holes drilled but bolts not in just yet…

My dad using the pneumatic ratchet.

Our 2 horsepower 5 gallon air compressor. We had to pause every so often to let the compressor replenish the air supply as it wasn’t powerful enough to keep up.

Myself using the pneumatic ratchet. And in case you’ve noticed, I’m wearing my work shorts still. Shorts made out of BDUs are great. Real rugged.

My father folding the flashing material in half.

Half of the flashing up.
