The Religious Left
One thing I notice about all of the backlash after the election about red states and blue states, is that a good number of the people that lean to the left politically blame the religious. I’m sure you’ve seen the map of the North American Continent where the coasts and Canada were blue and called, “The United States of Canada,” and where the rest of the country was red and was labelled with “Jesusland.”
Talking trash about the religious is sheer nonsense. A great deal of religious people vote Democratic. An example can be found close to home. My roommate is a Democrat, and so is his family. They are both rather religious. And you also have to think about all of the religious black people in our country. For the most part, they vote Democratic.
For your information, although I was raised Catholic, I am not very religious. My parents, however, are. I asked my mother election night who she voted for and why. She said she voted for Bush because Kerry was Pro Choice.
Though this nation is officially secular, Christianity played a large role in its formation and still does to this day. The pilgrims came to this country in order to freely practice their own form of Christianity. Our pledge of allegiance, has the words “Under God” in it. We swear oaths on the bible. I think that a majority of Americans do believe in values that have some resemblance to what some would call “Christian Values.” Little things like being nice to other people, respecting your parents, stealing being bad, and agreeing that killing other people is bad.
I don’t think that becoming the new party of Jesus will work, but you have to remember that the last two Democratic Presidents that were elected were both Southern Baptists, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.

hmm.. i think it’s all perspective.. cause I didn’t take that picture as jesusland being negative, actually quite the opposite considering jesus is all about good, love & stuff. Maybe you’re really a dem in hiding :p

Who are you kidding? Black people dont vote.

They do when the democratic party busses them to polling stations.

No, they’re too lazy to even go to the bus. I work with these people. I’d say maybe 3% of them actually bothered to vote.

I was reading about how many votes are thrown out every year because of an error that the voter made. People are arguing that there is a technological bias because most of the votes that are thrown out are from urban areas.
Some people call that unfair. I call it the price of admission. Seriously, voting is simple. And if you have trouble, you can call an election worker into the voting booth to help you vote if you need it.

“She said she voted for Bush because Kerry was Pro Choice. ”
Good to see votes decided on by non-war issues.

She’s a 60 year old lady. For her, the war is a very distant and abstract thing. She just knows that abortion to her is tantamount to murder.
