Boo BBC!
So I was listening to Talking Point on the BBC via the internet thanks to my local NPR station, WNYC. Now the people on the show were discussing the American election which is coming up in just a few days, and one pundit, said that if the election resulted in a tie, the election would go to the House of Representatives, and then the election would go to President Bush, as the House is currently controlled by the Republicans. (They outnumber the Democrats 227 to 202.) Now this pundit, I don’t know what his name was, I came in on the tail end of the show, said that if such a thing happened, the Constitution would be amended so that instead of the Electoral College, we would just have a popular election. My response to that is, “You, sir, are a fucking retard.” The electoral college is necessary. Otherwise, candidates would only campaign in large cities, and they would only care about issues that people in cities and other large metropolitan areas cared about. They would ignore the South, the MidWest, the Rocky Mountain states, and the northern states. You’d just campaign in New York, its surrounding states, and California. He also neglects to mention just how difficult it is to get an amendment passed. The last time it happened was in 1992 with the 27th Amendment. Before that, the last amendment was the 26th, obviously, and that granted suffrage to people under the age of 18. That was in 1971.
Anyhow I digress. What I was REALLY pissed about, was that I was going to call in and tell the pundit what a moron was to his face, metaphorically speaking. But the toll free number listed didn’t work! I was quite angry.
Quite a production I made to just say that I was angry that the toll free call in number didn’t work, wasn’t it?

That’s why I don’t make political commentary on the Parliment and the idea of the Prime Minister, because, as an Ameircan, I am not that familiar with the workings of the British government. Currently, al;l the political commentary I make is pulling the trigger of my SAW.

I probably should have mentioned that the pundit on the show was an American.
